International funding programmes from public entities 

AAL (Ambient Assisted Living)
A joint programme funded between different European countries, which aims to create better life conditions for the older people and to strengthen the industrial opportunities in Europe through the use of information and communication technologies (ICT).

COSME
EU Programme for the Competitiveness of enterprises and SMEs 2014-2020, with the aim of strengthening the competitiveness and sustainability of EU companies. It includes support for exchanges between educators and trainers in European best practices in entrepreneurship education within the EU. The programme stems from the actions of the 2007-2013 programme of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (IEI), and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP).

COST
European Cooperation Science and Technology Programme which brings together researchers and experts from different countries working around specific topics. It offers financial support on networking activities such as meetings, conferences, short term scientific exchanges and outreach activities.

CHAFEA 
EC programme in the field of health with the following objectives: to improve citizens’ health security; to promote health, including the reduction of health inequalities; and to generate and disseminate health information and knowledge. Includes a variety of funding mechanisms: research projects, operating grants, joint actions, conferences and tenders. 

ENPI-CBC
This programme aims at reinforcing cooperation between the EU and partner countries regions placed along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Establishes a strategic framework of 4 priorities: promotion of socio-economic development and enhancement of territories; promotion of environmental sustainability at basin level; promotion of better conditions and modalities for ensuring the mobility of persons, goods and capitals; promotion of cultural dialogue and local governance.

Erasmus +
EU program for education, training, youth and sport for the period 2014-2020. This program focuses on the formal and informal beyond EU borders learning, with a clear commitment to internationalization opening to third countries in order to improve education and training capabilities of people for employability of students, faculty and workers. It combines seven programs in the period 2007-2013, the Life Long Learning Programme (LLP), the Youth in Action Programme five international higher education programs (Mundus, Tempus, Alfa, Edulink and bilateral programs).

LIFE+ 
An EU’s instrument financing projects that contribute to the development and implementation of environmental policy and legislation and to sustainable development. There are three programme components: nature & biodiversity; environment policy & governance; information & comunication. Projects must be developed within the European Union (EU) and in certain third countries (EU candidate counties, EFTA countries that are members of the European Environmental Agency, and the Western Balkan countries that are part of the Stabilisation and Association Process).

The European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP)
EDCTP aims to accelerate the development of new or improved drugs, vaccines, microbicides and diagnostics against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria as well as other poverty-related infectious diseases in sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on phase II and III clinical trials.

National Institutes of Health USA (NIH)
NIH offers funding for many types of grants, contracts, and even programs that help repay loans for researchers. Learn about these programs, as well as about NIH's budget process, grant funding strategies, and policies.

Canon Foundation in Europe
Scholarships adressed to European and Japanese researchers not older than 40 years with a Masters or PhD. The grant period will enjoy a European research in Japan and the Japanese scholar enjoy a research period in Europe. The scholarships are awarded regardless of discipline.

Catalonia Foundation - La Pedrera
Scholarships to study masters of excellence and research at the University Rovira i Virgili (URV).

Fulbright Foundation
Scholarships for students and doctors. The programme also provides funding for institutions to invite specialists.

Foundation Hergar
Funding for research on technology development and innovation in education and business.

Fundación Mapfre
Research grants on risk and safety.

Fundación Mutua Madrileña
Grants for research projects in the field of medicine.

Ramon Areces Foundation
Grants for research projects and for postdoctoral studies in the field of life sciences and social sciences.

Obra Social 'La Caixa'
Scholarships to study masters or doctorates in Spain, Europe, North America and Asia. Some calls also support PhD research projects.
